What is the Local Network permission?

iOS 14 introduced the new Local Network permission that apps have to acquire when they want to discover devices on the local network using multicast discovery protocols such as Bonjour or UPnP. Information obtained from these protocols can reveal details about devices on your LAN which can be used for user fingerprinting and this new permission was introduced to protect your privacy. Information obtained from Bonjour and UPnP by Network Analyzer doesn't leave your device and is only used to display these services and to discover devices in the LAN scanner.
